Spaghetti Tower Evaluations

Spending Report:

  • $150 in spaghetti totaling to 15 sticks.
  • $190 in tape amounting to 9 centimeters of tape and ten marshmallows.

Tower Design:

  • Tower Height: 84 cm.
  • Stability was a problem early on with the making of our tower.
  • As a result we were forced to twist the rectangle base in order to provide more core support.
  • Once we twisted the sticks to form 8 triangles in the middle, it was very strong.  From then on we simply made a pyramid and stuck two stick into its pinnacle.
  • This being said, if we were to redo the tower we would just do all the segments in this fashion.
  • Time was definitely not on our side as we had just started building as the period was ending.

Self-Evaluation:

  • This activity was very fun for me as i really enjoy architecture and building things.
  • The activity itself was not frustrating in the least, but the time constraints that we had really limited our group's production as we really planned out our design instead of just winging it.
  • I thought our design was pretty unique as we had a square bas instead of the triangle bases that i saw everywhere around the room.
  • I think our planning was exact enough to where we would not have needed much more material, but I suppose we could always use more tape for strength in joints.
  • I helped in building design and construction of the tower.
